Sprinkler Winterization in Salt Lake City

Book sprinkler winterization or a blowout

Call (385) 226-5764 or text the SLC team with your city, approximate zone count, water source, and any pumps or exposed equipment. Ask about seasonal availability and arrange shutdown before freezing conditions affect your system. Your water provider stopping delivery does not empty the irrigation pipes.

What affects the visit and price?

The system layout, number of zones, access to shutoffs, and equipment needing attention affect the work. Confirm the shutdown method, included components, and current price when you book. Blowouts are appropriate for some systems; others require different draining procedures. The equipment manufacturer’s instructions determine how components should be protected.

Service coverage includes Salt Lake City, Holladay, Kearns, Magna, Millcreek, Murray, South Salt Lake, Taylorsville, and West Valley City; call to confirm your address. Mention any known leaks so we can discuss repair needs separately. Planning changes for next season? See sprinkler installation and upgrades.

The lawn may be finished for the season, but water can still be sitting in the sprinkler pipes. Before freezing weather arrives, let’s get the system ready. We use the shutdown method that fits your equipment and how it was installed.

When to plan your winter shutdown

It’s time to plan when the watering season is winding down, colder weather is in the forecast, or you’re unsure whether the system drains completely.

Why switching off the timer isn’t enough

Switching the timer off stops the schedule; it doesn’t empty the pipes. Systems drain in different ways, and exposed parts need attention before a freeze.

How to get ready for the visit

Locate the controller and the irrigation shutoff you normally use. Clear access to valve boxes, and tell us about pumps or unusual equipment when booking. Leave compressed-air work to someone who understands the system—one pressure setting does not suit every setup.

Shut down the system with spring in mind

We review the equipment, isolate the irrigation supply, drain or blow out the appropriate sections, and prepare the controls for winter. We follow the needs of individual components, including backflow devices, and note visible problems to address before spring.

Three steps to getting it sorted

  1. Call or text with your city, water source, and any equipment details you know.
  2. Confirm availability, what’s included, and pricing for the winterization visit.
  3. After shutdown, review any repair notes and what you’ll need to check in spring.

Does the water district shutting off water winterize my yard?

No. The district can stop delivering water while water remains trapped in your pipes. Your yard’s equipment still needs the winter preparation suited to that system.
